Don Teets: You will find Don to be one of the most laid back and easy to work with people in this industry. He started in Michigan in 1975 and has worked within the commercial and residential construction fields ever since.
He and his wife, Mary, moved to Punta Gorda in 2001 to enjoy the sunshine and water life. Never ones to spend much idle time, they went right back into the business and have been going strong ever since. What is Don's favorite part of remodeling? He loves working with clients to make their dream homes a reality
Mary Teets: Educated in Business and Business Administration, Mary's hands on approach is her way of “continuing education”. She attends seminars and classes ongoing to keep DTC ahead of the ball game and is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist.
She handles most of the administration requirements of the company and lends a hand in other areas of the office as needed.
Her favorite part of being in the construction field is spending time with clients helping them decide on materials for their project. She will even take you shopping!

Mary's tool of the week: Small pink rechargeable screwdriver with swivel for getting into tight places
Don's tool of the week: Small rechargeable screwgun
Mary's tool of the week: No tool box is complete without Goo Gone to remove stubborn glue from price stickers and we all know how we want to remove those before the Mr. comes home. It's great for many things including removing “Love Bug” remains from you vehicle and even has a pleasant smell.
Don's tool of the week: WD 40. In case you wondering what the WD stands for it is “water displacement”. Don and the crew use this for squeaky door hinges, maintaining their tools, rust protection and many other things.
Both of these “must haves” can be found at hardware stores, building supply stores and even your local grocery store!
Mary's tool of the week: is a Sharpie marking pen is sure a needed item in any tool box. They come in many colors, but black is usually the color of choice for marking many colored surfaces.
Don's tool of the week: [More a tip than a tool] Don uses a common round tooth-pic to fix those stripped out cabinet hinge screws. All you do is stick tooth-pic in the hole, break it off and screw the screw back in until tight - stripped out hole fixed!

Smitty's inspector tool of the week: 48 inch Smart Level

Mary's tool of the week is a small Torpedo level (model #42-264) for hanging pictures, and as Mary put it, a good way to keep those contractors honest.
Don on the other hand says that a man needs a little bigger level and he chooses a 4 foot level (model# 10425) With this he can do the job of a small level but still do a little more.
You can find these tools at your local Do it Best Hardware (Isles Hardware Punta Gorda).
Mini glue gun, these will come in handy for fixing many household gluing issues, (Try item # 74451 and model # MT300). Also a small 16oz hammer, not a big oversized hammer, a big one won't fit in your household toolbox nor will it fit in ours, (Try item # 142367 model # 11419) both items you can see at www.Lowes.com
Compliments of Ace hardware: We have an electric outlet tester (Item no: 3003845) also a outlet and wire tester (Item no: 3093424). Both items are great for testing outlets to see if there is any electric at the outlet and if there is an issue with the wiring of the outlet. Check them out at www.acehardware.com
Compliments of Punta Gorda Ace hardware: Stanley model # 68-010 Multi-bit racheting screw driver www.stanleyworks.com . Don showed us a tape measurer, Ace hardware brand, model # 2137990, its a 25 footer. Just the right size for an around the house job.
The sliding window lock from Mag manufacturing, this particular item is great if you want to lock your window shut, or you want to lock your window so it only opens so far.
